The Red Chair is a "antique" store started many years ago as just a hobby on Saturdays. Over the years the store grew and was open most days. I closed it for several months (more like years) until I "retired" from my law practice. Now I plan to take the Red Chair to a new level, with the presence of my website and adding online sales as well as having my "store" at 211 N. 7th Street, open several days a week.
2018 brought big changes in Perry, Oklahoma. It started with the closing of our Walmart. Left was the Dollar General store and newly renovated Homeland grocery. It just happened that our local Main Street retained services of Ron Drake for advice about revitalizing our downtown to bring in new businesses, revitalize the ones we still have, and to attract people to live in our historic buildings around the downtown square in the many upper story flats and apartments. Several stores are being remodeled and open again, such as the new Rise & Pies bakery and the new Boomerang Diner. To date in March, 2019 looks to be a great year for Perry's antique stores, as well. Georgia's three stores on Cedar Street and one on the north side of the square are doing great, as is the Yankee Dime Mercantile at Sue's three locations. Bill's "furniture and flea market" is always fun to search for treasures, and The Red Chair on 7th Street is gearing up to open in the Spring of 2019, too. Perry offers shopping, fine dining, as well as beautiful hotels for shoppers and travelers. Visitors to Perry love Thorn Originals, Fosters, and Simply Home, and the Historic "Kumback Cafe".
